About Kawasaki Motorcycles
Kawasaki is a Japanese company that manufactures motorcycles, ATV's, personal watercraft, snowmobiles and outboard motors. They have been around since 1955 when they started manufacturing the motorcycle.
The company was founded by Shozo Kawasaki in 1945 as the Kawasaki Dockyard Co., Ltd. In 1946 it became Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. They have since sold over 100 million vehicles worldwide and are one of the largest producers of motorcycles in the world with over 20 models across five brands.
Does Your Used Kawasaki Bike Have a Salvage Title?
A salvage title is a title for a vehicle that has been damaged to the extent that it is not safe to operate on the public roads. The vehicle's owner files an insurance claim and, if approved, receives compensation from their insurance company.
When buying a used motorcycle, this is obviously a critical thing to determine. Besides simply asking the previous owner, you can also get a vehicle history report, which will show you various title brands, including if the motorcycle has ever been branded as a salvage vehicle.
How to Check the VIN Number on a Kawasaki
You can find the VIN for any Kawasaki bike on the steering head. Look for a 17 character combination of letters and numbers, permanently written just below the handle bars.
The first letter of a Kawasaki VIN will always be J, which stands for Japan, where the bikes are made (even when destined for the US and other markets). The second letter will be K, which stands for Kawasaki.
