How to Decode a KTM VIN
For the uninitiated, decoding a KTM VIN starts with the first three digits. The first three digits represent the country of origin. The first three digits of a KTM VIN are coded to show which country it was manufactured in. If it is an Austrian motorcycle, then this digit will be 3. .The 4th through 6th digits are the sequential serial number of the motorcycle. The 7th digit is a check digit and should match the corresponding number in order for the KTM VIN to be valid. The 8th through 10th digits show what type of engine was installed on this motorcycle, as well as how many cylinders it has - if it is a V-twin, it will have 3 digits, if it is a single-cylinder motorcycle engine, the number will be 4.
